National Projects

The U.S. Jaycees Priority Projects are projects that chapters run annually in conjunction with chapters from coast to coast.  Local chapters are encouraged to incorporate these projects into the year’s activities.

These projects include Citizen Corps, Governmental Involvement, Outstanding Young Farmers (OYF), Relay for Life, Support Our Troops, and Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA).

Citizen Corps

After September 11, 2001, America witnessed a wellspring of selflessness and heroism. People in every corner of the country asked, “What can I do?” and “How can I help?” Citizen Corps was created to help all Americans answer these questions through public education and outreach, training, and volunteer service.

Government Affairs

The United States Junior Chamber has a long history of impacting the nation through projects specifically directed at action and involvement with local, state, and national government agencies. From the original Get Out the Vote campaign in 1923 to working to ensure statehood for Alaska and Hawaii in 1959. In 1962 Jaycees also urged adoption of Uniform Vehicle Code, with emphasis on state action resulting in adoption nationally.

Jaycees have also used the skills and contacts made through Govermental Involvement projects to run for various elected offices.

Outstanding Young Farmer (OYF)

Since 1954, the United States Jaycees have honored Outstanding Young Farmers. The program recognizes young farmers for achievements in agri-business as well as contributions made through the involvement in community, agriculture and other organizations. The purpose of the OYF award is to foster better urban-rural relations by contact between Jaycees and farmers to create a greater public interest in, and understanding of today’s farmer and their contribution to society.

Relay for Life

Relay For Life brings together millions of people to raise money and awareness to help prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from the disease. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.

Support Our Troops

A neighbor leaves his/her family to go off and protect us and our families. What should we/can we do for his/her family? Civilian-founded and civilian-led, Support Our Troops® operates programs which enable each of us to personally take responsibility for our neighbors when we ask them to protect us. All programs boost support for the troops and their families in a direct citizen-to-citizen manner.

Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA)

The Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA) project exists to recognize and honor ten Americans each year who exemplify the best attributes of the nation’s young people, aged 18 through 40.

Of the more than 600 young Americans honored, many were recognized before the achievements for which they are now known: John F. Kennedy, Gerald R. Ford, Ann Bancroft, Gale Sayers, Elvis Presley, Dan Quayle, Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, Larry Holmes, Bill Clinton, Jeanna Yeager, Kaye Lani Rae Rafko-Wilson.
